By joining us, you will walk together with a mother receiving treatment for the first time from a skilled AMPATH doctor at her local village clinic. You will join a medical student on a journey abroad to learn new skills and bring back valuable knowledge to implement at home. You will accompany an AMPATH researcher in a quest to discover more effective treatments for the growing scourge of noncommunicable diseases.

Global Partnerships Strengthened in Kenya
For the first time in AMPATH history, a network of 300+ people from multiple AMPATH countries and partners met in person in Kenya and kicked off the year with tremendous momentum for what lies ahead. This monumental multi-day gathering also included representatives from USAID and officials from the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
A highlight of the 3-day event was the first AMPATH Expo which featured more than 80 posters and booths from AMPATH programs throughout Kenya as well as partners in Nepal, Ghana and Mexico. Attendees were invited to meet and engage with AMPATH program leaders and beneficiaries.

Wisdom Shared During Ryan White Event
During the fireside chat at the Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award dinner, AMPATH founder Dr. Joe Mamlin shared reflections and advice for students who want to follow in his footsteps. “Spend about 10 percent of your time becoming the best doctor you can be and 90 percent of the time figuring out who you are and what you really care about. Believe me, when your skills and your values are in harmony, it’s a lot of fun and a lot of peace.”
“I think it’s important for everyone to get involved in something that's a little bit bigger than you are and something that you can't really do during your lifetime,” he added.
