AMPATH Leaders Share Insights with Kenyatta University
AMPATH hosted a two-day cross-learning exercise for Kenyatta University's senior management and its USAID Health Equity and Resource Optimization (HERO) team to provide insights from AMPATH's successful implementation of grants and impressive portfolio of donor-funded projects.
The delegation, led by Professor Caroline Thoruwa, acting deputy vice chancellor of Research Innovation and Outreach, was warmly welcomed by Professor Sylvester Kimaiyo, AMPATH's executive director of care and chief of party for USAID AMPATH Uzima, who provided an overview of AMPATH's history and capacity.
Prof. Thoruwa expressed admiration for AMPATH's extensive work in managing multiple projects supporting diverse care programs nationwide. Professor Winstone Nyandiko, AMPATH’s executive director for research, emphasized the importance of research in capacity development. Peter Milo, chief of party for USAID HERO, stressed the project's role in perpetuating AMPATH's legacy in grant management excellence.
Professor Robert Tenge, principal of the College of Health Sciences at Moi University, emphasized the significance of partnerships and connections, highlighting the positive impact AMPATH has had on the educational experience of medical students.
The interactive sessions featured insights from experts in research and care, concluding with presentations on USAID AMPATH's financial and administrative systems. Prof. Thoruwa expressed gratitude for the guidance received, lauding AMPATH's clear vision and collaborative networks as exemplary of universities' community impact.
