Outstanding MTRH Professionals in Kenya’s Response to COVID-19 Honored

On June 1, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta named the inaugural recipients of The Presidential Order of Service—Uzalendo Award.

"Let me on behalf of an eternally grateful nation, recognize and commend our healthcare workers for giving their all in support of our response to this pandemic," said President Kenyatta.

Receiving the award from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) are:

Dr. Wilson Aruasa

CITATION: Dr. Aruasa leads the team at MTRH. This award represents the efforts that staff at MTRH dedicated to the COVID-19 fight.

Dr. Nicholas Kirui

CITATION: Dr. Kirui is a Specialist Physician at MTRH in Eldoret where he is the team leader in charge of treatment and care of COVID-19 patients. This award acknowledges his dedication to duty and selfless service in the fight against COVID-19.

Dr. Daisy Chepkemoi Korir

CITATION: Dr. Korir works at MTRH where she serves as the team leader in charge of communication and treatment of COVID-19 under the hospital’s COVID-19 Control and suppression committee. This award recognizes her continued dedication to duty and service.

Sister Jackline Odawo Opondo

CITATION: Sister Opondo is the team leader in nursing care services in MTRH’s COVID-19 control and suppression committee and is she is largely responsible for setting up the isolation units at MTRH. This award recognizes her selfless service to the call of service.

Silvia Kadima

CITATION: Silvia is a Laboratory Technologist and the team leader in testing and laboratory at MTRH. For her continued dedication in the fight against COVID-19, she receives this award.
