Purdue Team Helps to Develop New Wound Kit
A team from the Purdue University College of Pharmacy worked with AMPATH consortium members and MTRH staff to develop a wound compression kit that treats skin conditions and infections, particularly Kaposi Sarcoma, a debilitating infection often linked with HIV.
The team developed the low-cost ($2) and sustainable option because other commercial kits are often too expensive or unavailable in Kenya. The new kits are now in use by AMPATH pharmacies and efforts are underway to increase production to meet the growing demand.
