Join us for virtual conversations between AMPATH’s seasoned and emerging leaders in a series we’re calling Fireside Chats.

Fireside Chats began at IU House in Eldoret, Kenya during the late 1990s for AMPATH trainees and visitors to connect, reflect and learn more about global health. They’ve continued weekly since then, even without a fireplace, with fascinating reflections and lessons from AMPATH leaders.

Simon Says Expert Series: The Unexpected Journey to Global Oncology

Last year, cancer patients at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Western Kenya had access to radiation therapy for the very first time. This marked a significant step forward in a vision IU Distinguished Professor Dr. Patrick Loehrer has been molding for more than 15 years as he dreamed of improving both cancer care and research in Kenya.

In this Simon Says Session presented by the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Loehrer discusses his unexpected journey to Kenya and how the work he and his colleagues do there has implications for underserved patients in Indiana and beyond.

Health Systems Resiliency and Reciprocal Innovation During Global Crises

The Indiana CTSI and Indiana University Center for Global Health in welcomed Dr. Roger Glass, director of the Fogarty International Center and associate director for International Research at the National Institutes of Health for the October AMPATH Fireside Chat. Caring for Mothers and Babies through Specialty Fellowship Training in Kenya

Applying the AMPATH Approach to the Street – The Story of the Tumaini Innovation Center

AMPATH has historically prioritized care above all other interests when supporting the needs of HIV patients. This same approach has been used to address the needs of street connected youth in Eldoret.
