Drug Information Centre
The MTRH-AMPATH Pharmacy department has come up with a Drug Information Centre (DIC) where clients can ask and receive information on various aspects pertaining to medicines use and information. We aim to keep everyone at AMPATH, MTRH and the public at large abreast with the most current evidence-based medical information. Given the continuous nature healthcare practice, we hope to ensure that our services are accessible round-the-clock, and utilizable even in emergencies. In order to achieve all these, we have assembled a team of pharmacists who will spearhead this novel process and are also acquiring the necessary tools needed to make our vision a reality. We have collected a wide variety of reference materials ranging from formularies to books to journals, and have even acquired online access to reputable sources of medical information such as UptoDate, Lexi-comp and Hinari. In this era of technological advancements, we have designed a database that will help process our drug information queries and have acquired computers, laptops and smartphones that will enable us access the drug information sources quickly and conveniently.
In line with the AMPATH motto of leading with care, we purpose to make our services accessible to the entire healthcare fraternity of the resource-constrained AMPATH catchment areas, with the aim of ensuring excellent patient care which is a priority and focus of all that we do.
Current access to the DIC is as follows:
Our main operation base is Room 48 on the ground floor of the AMPATH building at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret.
For persons working within AMPATH - Eldoret and MTRH, we can be accessed through the landline (Extension 3532). This will however only apply during the official working hours (8am - 5pm)
We can be contacted via mobile phone calls and text message services any time of the day (Safaricom +254 706 350 056)
