Make AMPATH Part of your Lasting Legacy

You’re a problem solver with a big heart. As a cherished AMPATH friend, you have provided healing and care for people in Kenya and helped to build a stronger health system on which they can rely. Sometimes, our AMPATH journey has been difficult. We haven’t always known where the path would lead. But you’ve stood right with us. Thank you.

Joe and Sarah Ellen Mamlin

When Sarah Ellen and I went to Eldoret more than 30 years ago, little did we know the breadth of the opportunity ahead of us! What started primarily as a medical training program between IU and Moi University expanded to multiple care programs at 300 clinics and hospitals in western Kenya serving a population of 24 million people (about the population of Texas).

Quality care has been hard to come by in rural Kenya. Because of you, we have worked not only to treat the patient in front of us, but to build a system of care to treat patients for years to come. Solving big problems requires long-term commitment.

It’s challenging work. But people like you and Sarah Ellen and I have remained undaunted. We are excited to bring care and healing to people who have been on the outside looking in. With the AMPATH model growing to three other countries, you can say you had a hand in touching lives around the globe.

As time passes, I have paused often to consider the lasting legacy Sarah Ellen and I want to make. I am sure I am not alone in this – perhaps, you, too, have similar thoughts. Perhaps you’ve thought about honoring a loved one by making a lasting gift in their name. Sarah Ellen and I have taken the step to keep part of our hearts forever in Kenya by including AMPATH in our estate plan.

Would you consider joining Sarah Ellen and me in making AMPATH part of your lasting legacy? Our team can help you with gift planning information or partner with your financial planner. If you’d like to learn more about opportunities or share plans for a gift you already have in place, I encourage you to contact Teresa Rhodes, Director of Development for the Indiana University Center for Global Health Equity, at 317-223-5176 or terhodes@iu.edu.

What we have built together is changing lives. The future is bright. Your lasting legacy gift to AMPATH will ensure that you continue giving to a mission dear to you and for years to come. Thank you.

Best,
