Dr. Katherine MacDonald
Visiting Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics
Pediatric Team Leader, AMPATH
Dr. Katherine MacDonald currently serves as the pediatric team leader for the AMPATH program in Eldoret, Kenya. In her role as Visiting Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, she conducts ward rounds, teaches medical student and residents, and coordinates their schedule. Dr. MacDonald completed her medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine and her pediatric residency from the University of Utah. Her engagement with the AMPATH program started in 2010 when she completed a two month clinical rotation as a 4th year medical student, and continued in residency when she completed a pediatric rotation at the ward at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Her global healthcare work also continued through her residency as she was heavily involved in the global health certificate program and conducted hypertension research in Ghana. Dr. MacDonald has a keen interest in adolescent medicine and is currently helping establish a comprehensive adolescent program for those are living with HIV. In her free time, she enjoys running and vegan baking.
