The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has a long history of extending a helping hand to those people overseas struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic country. It is this caring that stands as a hallmark of the United States around the world - and shows the world our true character as a nation. Through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), USAID granted AMPATH with a $60 million grant over 5 years, and later supplemented this grant with an additional $5 million designated specifically to help AMPATH bring up its primary care programs.
This grant makes up the majority of AMPATH's budget and enables AMPATH to reach more than 4 million individuals in its catchment area. We are proud to be a partner with the U.S. Government to build health systems in Kenya.
